In science we continued on with our study of the cell. Students completed a cell organelle foldable and looked at some slides of animal cells and plant cells and tried to discern the difference. 1/2 cup water, 2 cups, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, dropper, iodine, baggies
place 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a cup and mix it up. Pour it into the baggie and seal the baggie. Wipe off the baggie and make sure that there is nothing on the outside. Take other cup and fill it halfway up with water. Place 20 drops of iodine into the cup of water. Place the baggie with the cornstarch mixture into the iodine water. What does it look like now? Watch and observe any changes you may see.

Make your observations. What does the starch with iodine look like after time has passed. What does the iodine water look like? Have there been changes in that water? What are your questions? What is your hypothesis?
We discussed theme in literature. Students were given this to add to their reading folder: Possible themes in literary works
We also began an ongoing chart of survival in a challenging environment that Salva and Nya face. Here is the chart. Survival factors chart The chart is on page 3 and 4. Some examples that students should write down are on page 2.
