Welcome to September!
In science, we continued our investigation into vision and color. Students got to do art in science by mixing colors to create other colors, in addition to creating black and white. Immediately, the students told me that they cannot create the color white by mixing other colors. Hmmm, why did I ask them to create white out of color? We also discussed transparent, translucent and opaque. Students used flashlights and their windows with different materials to determine if light is transmitted, reflected or absorbed through the different materials. For homework students have a lab reflection sheet. Capturing Color Lab ReflectionThey may need to do a little research to answer some of the questions. Students also have 2 quesitons to research: How can colors make white? and Why is the sky blue?
In language arts, we continued to focus on close reading. Students have a literature selection to complete a second read and they need to annotate the text. It is called “The Last Expedition”. The last expedition

We are also discussing what makes a complete sentence. Students worked on subject predicate, and for homework the need to collect 10 2 word sentences. I want them to try to come up with or find really strong 2 word sentences.
