  • Classwork: Watch erosion videos and how it relates to the Dust Bowl;  learn about conservation farming methods
  • Homework:   Chapter 9 Study Guide (science chapter 9 study guide erosion)(may need to refer to Chapter 9 sections 1-4 for answers)  We will go over answers in class on Wednesday…there will be a test on this material Friday 10/3

Language Arts

  • Classwork:  Share Book Reviews;  Review similes found in Out of the Dust; discussion of Out of the Dust and go over some of the answers to the questions due 10/3;  Analysis of poem from Vocabulary packet “Hope”…..discussed theme…..discussed figurative language in poem; Writer’s Workshop:  students filled out template in preparation for their Part C paragraph
  • Homework: 1.Vocabulary packet (ped/man) (ped man vocabulary)  due 9/30  Remember that part C of the vocabulary packet has two parts this week- writing literary analysis paragraph about the poem (please use template- we started template in class-theme and figurative language template)   AND  list 4 manual jobs   2.  Read Out of the Dust p. 150-189   3.  Out of the Dust questions (out of dust questions) due 10/3 in COMPLETE sentences on a separate paper

Social Studies

  • Classwork:  Group work:  students worked in their groups based on their paleolithic reading (East Africa, Middle East, or Europe).  Groups are to create a poster that has the following details about their groups’ reading:  1. Location  2. Climate  3. Food  4. Tools  We will present these Wednesday- they look great!
